Our Testing Methodology: Real Homes, Real Messes
We do not rely on manufacturer spec sheets or idealized laboratory setups. Every vacuum cleaner undergoes an intensive 4-week testing protocol across 2,000 sq ft of multi-surface flooring with pets.
1. Stain Removal & Cleaning Efficiency (35% Weighting)
Instead of harmless synthetic beads, we subject cleaners to challenging household messes:
- Baked-on Ketchup & Sticky Syrup: Air-dried for 24 hours on natural oak hardwood and textured slate tiles.
- Coffee Grinds & Milk Spills: Testing liquid dispersion and streak prevention.
- Shedding Pet Hair: Evaluating roller tangle resistance and suction canal clearance.
2. Baseboard & Corner Clearance (25% Weighting)
We measure uncleared margins against walls using precision gauges on both lateral sides. Only cleaners achieving true 0 mm contact earn top scores.
3. Maneuverability & Hand Fatigue (20% Weighting)
Total chassis weight differs greatly from perceived in-hand drag. We record push and pull resistance in Newtons. Smart bidirectional drive assist features receive positive weighting.
4. Dock Hygiene & Thermal Drying (20% Weighting)
A dirty vacuum shouldn't become a bacterial hotspot. We inspect roller moisture retention after the drying cycle and monitor odor buildup over 48 hours.
